Summer Camps
Schools might close for summer holidays, but Athens Open Schools come alive every summer since 2017. The Open Schools of the Municipality of Athens is a place for everyone’s creativity! 20 school in all 7 municipal districts of Athens open their doors even when the lessons stop and are transformed into neighborhoods’ meeting points. The schoolyards are open for free play and the classrooms offer cultural, educational, entertainment, sport and technology activities for all.
The Open Schools programme of the Municipality of Athens is implemented with founding donor the Ίδρυμα Σταύρος Νιάρχος, the co-ordination of the Athens Partnership and the support of Ioannis S.Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
Our programme An Olympic Game familiarize children with the history of sports through the themes of the Olympic and Special Olympic Games. We explore various aspects of athletics including concepts of nutrition and wellness raising awareness on self care through play and art crafts.

What happens in Children’s Cafe? We put aside for a moment any kind of screen and we play, create, explore, socialise. Through movement and knowledge games, visual board game creations, interactive group discussions about issues facing the youth today, the children will express themselves perfectly intertwined with the nature and needs of their soul and mind.

- Summer Camp 2019: Make your Earth
This year, in collaboration with The Bee Camp,
we invite you to the Summer Camp Make your Earth. During each day of this programme, children will be discovering a different ecosystem of the planet. The ecosystems that we will focus on are: the sea, the land, the freshwater and the city. The characteristics of each ecosystem, the flora and fauna, the human impact on it and suggestions for sustainable behaviour are the key factors around which the daily activities will be organised. We use audio-visual material combined with physical games based on theatrical principles, craftsmanship, knowledge games, and storytelling as a starting point for communication.

- Summer Camp 2020: Summer in the city
From Pani Hill to Coast of Sun, Alimos is full of history and stories! In 2020, we collaborate with BillyBro and the Municipality of Alimos, in order to introduce to the young participants the cultural and natural heritage of the area, through a game of treasure hunt and Land Art.
