Theofanis Karafotias is a graduate of the department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art of the Technological Educational Institution of Athens. He also has an undergraduate degree in Marketing and Communication from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds postgraduate diplomas in Cultural Administration from the Greek Open University, in Heritage Management from the University of Kent and in Museum and Gallery Practice (UCL Qatar).
He has worked for 15 years for the Greek Ministry of Culture as a conservator of antiquities and as a project manager of EU co-funded restoration projects. He has also collaborated with the Austrian Archaeological Institute for projects in Egypt and Turkey. As an intern he has worked for the cultural consultancy Barker Langham in London. He specializes in audience research, cross-cultural communication and the interpretation of conflicting and socio-culturally sensitive topics.
