We are seeking 6 visual artists based in Athens to participate in the European project GREENPRESS!

Benefits

  • Training & Materials: Free participation in 6 specialised workshops on eco-friendly printmaking & visual storytelling (Wednesdays 13/01, 27/01, 10/02, 24/02, 10/03 & 31/03/2027, 14.30-17.30, Chalandri), with all materials and equipment fully provided.
  • International Residency in Ireland: 3 out of the 6 artists will be selected for a 1-week residency at Creative Spark (Ireland, late June 2027) with all expenses covered (travel, accommodation, meals).
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate in pairs to facilitate 10 community workshops with primary school children from the Municipality of Vrilissia, with the aim of co-designing community artworks based on eco-friendly printmaking techniques and illustrated narratives (September 2027 – February 2028).
  • Exhibitions & Travel to Cyprus:
    • Presentation of the co-created artwork in a local exhibition (March – April 2028).
    • Participation in a group exhibition at the Hambis Printmaking Museum & School in Cyprus (May 2028), including a 3-day trip with all expenses covered (travel, accommodation, meals) for all 6 artists.
  • Publications & Dissemination: Feature of your artwork in the limited-edition Print Box Sets and the official project catalogue/publication.
  • Artist Fee: An artist fee of €1,500 per artist upon successful completion of all project stages (payable in May 2028).

Obligations

  • 80% attendance at Phase A workshops (January – March 2027).
  • Development of a workshop delivery plan using a provided template, subject to consortium approval (July – August 2027).
  • Delivery of 10 community workshops with primary school students (September 2027 – February 2028).
  • Final submission of the co-created community artwork (late February 2028).
  • Active participation in both the local exhibition and the group exhibition in Cyprus.

Artistic Framework & Ethics

Artworks will not be subject to aesthetic or artistic critique. However, they must strictly comply with:

  • Eco-friendly / non-toxic techniques.
  • Core EU values (respect, inclusiveness, non-discrimination).
  • Full GDPR compliance.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

  • Co-Creation: Artworks created during the community workshops are governed under a co-creation framework between the participating artists and community members.
  • Non-Commercial Use: Project partners retain the non-exclusive right to showcase, publish, digitally disseminate and exhibit the artworks (at conferences, websites, catalogues and educational resources) strictly for non-commercial purposes, with full attribution to the creators.
  • No Commercial Exploitation: No project partner or institution holds the right to commercially exploit or sell the produced artworks.
  • Creators’ Ownership & Freedom: Participating artists and community groups retain the right to present and include the artworks in their personal portfolios/archives without requiring prior authorisation from other members.

Selection Criteria & Decision Process

All selection decisions will be taken jointly by the consortium (Peripatos, Hambis Printmaking Museum & School, Creative Spark).

Initial Selection (6 Artists per country):

  • Artistic Quality (30%): Portfolio and artistic excellence.
  • Feasibility (15%): Proposal relevance and feasibility.
  • Potential Impact (30%): Expected impact of participation.
  • Relevance & Experience (25%): Relevant background in sustainable practices or community arts.

 

Residency Selection (3 out of 6): Selection for the residency in Ireland will take place during Phase A, based on workshop engagement and the evaluation of a short proposal (motivation letter / logistics / availability).

Language Guidelines

  • Local workshops in Greece will be conducted in Greek. On-site support will be provided by Peripatos team members during international activities (Ireland/Cyprus).
  • The application form is in English. Applicants who do not feel fully comfortable writing in English may submit their narrative responses in Greek.

The organising partners reserve the right to modify or adjust the project schedule, dates, venues, or delivery format (in-person or online) should it be deemed necessary for the proper implementation of the project. Furthermore, in cases of Force Majeure or extraordinary and unforeseen circumstances beyond the partners’ control (including, but not limited to, extreme weather events, travel restrictions, geopolitical disruptions, or health and safety emergencies), the consortium reserves the right to adapt the timeline or activity delivery without incurring any further liability or obligation towards the applicants/participants.
