Care for the Carers
An initiative for resilience in the social impact sector
Individuals working in demanding social and humanitarian sectors -such as education, social inclusion, civil society and culture- channel their energy daily into supporting others, often at the cost of their personal well-being. Professional burnout, chronic stress and managing emotional fatigue are everyday challenges, yet they are rarely discussed collectively.
The project Care for the Carers, funded by the iac Berlin | Bosch Alumni Network, comes forward to address this urgent need. Its goal is to create a safe space for reflection, mutual support, and healthier ways of working.
The Methodology
The programme combines expert guidance with participatory art-therapy workshops, developing along two complementary paths:
1. Experts webinar (June 2026)
An experiential workshop for the prevention of burnout and the management of the emotional burden of the providing / supportive professionals. The participants will learn to recognise the personal signs of overload, set healthy mental boundaries, and apply practical tools for self-care, de-stressing, and strengthening mental resilience in their daily lives.
Expert Facilitator: Elisavet Georgiou is an Organisational Psychologist MSc, Psychotherapist and Executive Coach, with many years of experience in mental health, professional development and empowerment of people and groups. She is the founder of the Be Yourself Center, President of the Be Positive Institute for Mental Health & Wellbeing and Scientific Director of the Job Center of the Municipality of Athens. Her work focuses on personal and professional crisis management, human resource development, mental resilience, sustainable self-care and the design of empowerment interventions for vulnerable social groups.

2. Art-Therapy Workshops in Athens (July & September 2026)
Theory transforms into experiential practice through three specialised, in-person workshops for small groups, aiming for creative stress relief and the strengthening of collective resilience:
- Mosaic (July): A manual, focused process that enhances concentration, calmness and informal communication within a welcoming art studio.
- Body Percussion (September): A physical experience where the body itself becomes the instrument, releasing tension through rhythm and collective movement.
- Philosophical Walk (September): A reflective activity in public urban spaces and parks in Athens, offering the team an opportunity to slow down, observe and connect with the city.
The Impact of the Action
Through Care for the Carers, Peripatos, in collaboration with Diadrasis and Natassa Chanta-Martin, are developing a care model that links personal well-being with professional sustainability. The conclusions, tools and best practices emerging from the project will be recorded in a shared digital guide (documentation), which will be distributed throughout the international network, serving as a legacy for future similar initiatives.
