International Achaic Festival
The production of an international festival is a multi-layered and highly participatory activity with numerous demands. Nonetheless, our collaboration with the Folklore Dance Group Achaioi, gave us the opportunity to take on a strategic role in the planning and organisation of such a case: the International Achaic Festival – a festival dedicated to traditional arts and folk culture.
The first challenge was to reshape an event with its own distinct identity in a way that ensures continuity and integrates tradition through a contemporary lens. We responded to this need using the tools and methodologies that guide all our projects. In this particular case, the services we provide include:
- Conception and co-creation of the Achaic Festival’s identity
- Design and implementation of the sponsorship campaign
- Festival production and project management
- Coordination of the honoured invited group
- Development of promotional material and communication
Identity & Vision
The International Achaic Festival is a celebration of Greece’s traditional and intangible cultural heritage, with a special emphasis on the active participation of the local community of Aigialeia and the welcoming of cultural groups from abroad.
In 2021, the honoured country was Ukraine, represented by the dance ensemble of the Branch of the Hellenic Cultural Foundation in Odessa. The group was accompanied by a delegation from the Municipality of Odessa, aiming to cultivate long-term relationships between Aigialeia and Odessa.
In 2022, the honoured country was Italy, specifically the music and dance group Agrikò from the Greek speaking villages of Salento – Lecce in Southern Italy. The ensemble was accompanied by the Mayor of Zollino, Mr. Edoardo Calò, along with representatives from two cultural associations: GRECIA GR and Apsec – Lecce.
The vision of the International Achaic Festival is to be established as a regional festival with an international scope, dedicated to folk culture and traditional arts.
We design the International Achaic Festival with the aim of developing it into a lasting institution that activates the local community and promotes outward-looking initiatives – both for the organising body and the wider region. With respect for the identity of Aigialeia, the Festival celebrates the joy of dance and music, brings people and places together, and constantly explores new ways to preserve and evolve intangible cultural heritage and tradition.
