LandArt
Land Art is an artistic movement of the past century that still teaches us how we can create art using natural materials, benefiting both the Earth and humankind.
“LandArt“ is a hands-on educational programme that allows children to use materials found in nature to create collective, temporary artworks. At the end of the activity, the artworks return to the natural environment that spawned their creation.
Through this creative and meaningful process, students are introduced to the concept of Land Art, and the young artists’ interaction with the land revises the relationship between people and nature, rejecting the traditional means of expression and promotion of art.
In 2018, the “LandArt“ programme travelled to schools across the Pindus mountains, as part of the “Eco-Literacy” initiative by Apivita, in collaboration with the NGOs Agoni Grammi Gonimi and New Wrinkle. There, children were inspired by the natural surroundings and created unique artworks: a giant heart made of leaves and stones, small houses crafted from twigs and pine needles, butterflies formed by blossoms. On a lush green hill, they spelled out the phrase “Land Art” using white stones. With their imagination set free, they experienced the joy of creation in deep connection with nature.
