In 2021, we had the chance to experience firsthand the value of artistic expression in the activation of the local community, especially children. We aimed toward a greater participation in civic life and promotion of their place.

The socio-cultural programme AKTES is designed for small islands, with the aim of enhancing children’s participation in community life. Guest artists on the island collaborated with the children, through an artistic process of co-creating activities around a theme, which each time concerns a strategic area of the island’s development. 

We participated in the programme with a series of printmaking workshops, so that the children of Ai Stratis could capture the unique aspects of their island. With our guidance, the children created original tote bags and postcards, in order to be used by local businesses as tourist products to promote their island.
