Mardin Pasaji
Kick-off Meeting
Another journey with the Tandem Turkey family took us to Tbilisi in July 2018. There, we met our “sisters” from the NGO Diadrasis (Greece), Mardin Kültür (Türkiye) and the Özgür Κadın Kolektifi (Türkiye), and together we developed the concept for the Mardin Pasaji project.

The project
Mardin Pasaji is a participatory socio-cultural project aimed at raising awareness among young people about the importance of architectural heritage in this beautiful city in southeastern Turkey, as well as their own cultural identity. The participating organisations co-designed and implemented a treasure hunt for local youth and a capacity-building seminar for professionals in the cultural and educational sectors.

Midterm Meeting
Meanwhile, in October 2018, we traveled to Belgrade to present the progress of our work and to participate in a series of training and creative activities, together with our sister teams from the other partner organisations involved in the project and the wider programme.
Treasure Hunt
An exploration and discovery game was designed in the old city of Mardin. The stations included significant local landmarks, such as the Great Mosque, a Syriac Orthodox church, mansions, and various religious, military, and educational sites from different historical periods and cultures. The goal of the activity was to highlight the region’s diversity and the harmonious coexistence of its rich historical and cultural elements.
Training Seminar
Complementing the treasure hunt, a seminar on interactive walks was held at the Mardin Müzesi, the region’s state museum. Guest speakers from the field emphasised the importance of using walks as tools in both cultural and educational contexts. Participants were invited to collaboratively design an interactive walk and present their approach at the end of the seminar.
Final Meeting
The journey concluded in Berlin, where we presented the outcomes of our project and strengthened our connections with all participating organisations, laying the groundwork for future collaborations.
