“If you cannot find spring, make it”

Odysseus Elytis

This year, spring will come first to our hearts and from there it will flood the whole world. How is this possible? But of course, through myths and fairy tales we will travel to all kinds of spring adventures and we will celebrate the colourful nature from wherever we are. Spring brings the message of hope and optimism, elements necessary for young children to deal with the difficult situation we all experience.

For this reason, we are particularly happy for our cooperation, once again, with the company BillyBro and the Municipality of Maroussi in the context of the digital activities of the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Maroussi. Peripatos is responsible for the artistic direction and co-production of the project Spring Fairy Tales. The dramaturgy, the narration, and the reflection on the essence of the stories, as well as the original soundtrack, compose our methodological approach to highlight classic stories in a contemporary way for our young audience.

“The abduction of Persephone”

Have you ever wondered how every year comes our favorite season, Spring? How suddenly the cold is gone and the whole world blossoms? The abduction of Persephone is a classic myth holding the great secret of spring, the wonderful cycle of nature.

Saturday 24/4, Start Time 17:00

“The selfish giant”

On a day like this, sunny and bright, the Irish poet and writer Oscar Wilde wrote this story where the hero was a giant, a very “selfish giant”. What can make a selfish heart soften and the snow melt? What does spring bring to our hearts?

“The North wind and the Sun”

Our oldest storyteller, the famous Aesop, left us a fable where the North wind and the Sun compete to find who is stronger. Goodness is always stronger than anything. In the end, everyone bows in front of her.

“Milia”

Years ago, in beautiful Greece, the great writer Emmanuel Rhoides wrote a very nice story. Milia, a girl with beautiful eyes and long hair, a kind-hearted and generous creature, who was loved not only by people but also by the animals and birds of the forest. Our heroine reminds us of the value of contact with nature and animals, generosity and solidarity.

Here you can find more information and instructions on how to watch the spring stories, but also the rest of the spring cultural digital activities from the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Maroussi for the Week 20 – 25 April 2021.

“Tonight we fall asleep in Spring’s lap, resting our head against her heart.

We hear heartbeats and birds breathing in our sleep.”
