The definition of “tandem” either refers to a bicycle with seats and pedals for two riders, one behind the other or in general two people working together. Well, the idea behind the programme Tandem Turkey is based on the second definition, but it could definitely be visualised like the first one.
Tandem Turkey is one of the many sub-programmes of Tandem for Culture initiative, which is a cultural collaboration programme that strengthens civil society in Europe and neighboring regions. It brings together cultural professionals from different countries to work together and implement pilot projects with a big impact.
Peripatos was selected to participate in Tandem Turkey’s 4th forum and traveled to one of Turkey’s most beautiful and picturesque villages, Şirince near Izmir, to present its work and ideas, meet other groups from Europe and Turkey and to find its tandem partner.
Our experience at the forum was great and through interviews and very productive conversations and workshops we found our other tandem half, the women’s cooperative named Özgür Kadın Kolektifi from Batman city of Eastern Turkey.
Next step is to submit our idea! Crossing fingers and we look forward for the results.
